GRaSS PLP Netbook Project Team Report- November 2009 (prepared by Shirley Gregory)
Essential Question-
Does the use of SUperClubsPLUS social networking help to engage students in their learning using ICT in a safe and effective way?
Focus Questions- ·Can we get students to work with others across our GRaSS group so that they see themselves as part of a larger, but still community type, group using SuperClubsPLUS? ·Do teachers find it useful to be able to connect with students through SUperClubsPLUS? ·Can we establish a protocol for using email to communicate using SuperClubsPLUS and other means? ·Does SuperClubsPLUS provide a useful means of teaching students about Cybersafety and protocols?
Measuring Outcomes ·Survey of students- using Survey Monkey, and netbook survey data, collection of data from schools about student activity on SuperClubsPLUS ·Survey of teachers- netbook survey data, ePotential survey data
Networked Design
The use of SuperClubsPlus as a Social Networking tool to develop student and teacher skills in a safe and user friendly environment.
Set the context
We are all from different schools in the Grampians Rural and Small Schools network, but we are up to two hours apart by car travel. We felt that by introducing all of our students to SuperClubsPlus we would develop their social networking skills and ours at the same time. It would also increase the ability of our students to communicate with each other, as a follow up to work we have done bringing these students together for leadership, and an ICT Showcase.
Proposal
All members will go back to their schools and introduce SuperClubsPlus across their Grade 3-6 classes or beyond. The principals in the group will encourage other schools in the GRaSS group to also take on using this social networking site.
Evaluation
SuperClubsPlus- school level results- each school can see at any point in time how many of their students are using the site, what they are doing and what they have done.

Photos from the Showcase:
Here is a photo that really captures what teaching is all about for me: a teacher standing behind their students to help and develop their skills with absolute delight and pride in their eyes, with the principal right there too to help, support and encourage. A picture is worth a thousand words!!
